Linde Material Handling
PBT Profilbiegetechnik produces components for Linde forklift cabs with Porsche design
More InformationTask
- Provision of a profile bending process that repeatedly produces the smallest bending radii, three times the profile diameter, up to large radii in a single pass per profile
- Development time to zero series: 12 weeks
- Commissioning and production support: 5 days
Solution
- Development of a modified three-roll profile bending process with a mandrel feed device to secure the profile geometry and rotation of the bending machine around its own vertical axis
- Documented prototyping phase up to the production-ready zero series
- Turnkey set-up of the PBT "bending centre
Advantage
- Construction of an effective, very flexible bending centre that can bend product-specific profiles with short throughput times
PBT Profilbiegetechnik produces components for Linde forklift cabs with Porsche design
Linde Material Handling, headquartered in Aschaffenburg, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment and is also one of the most important producers of hydrostatic drives, which are mainly used in construction, agricultural and forestry machinery as well as in Linde forklift trucks.
Fahrzeugbau Geisa, now a member of the Linde Group, was commissioned to produce specially shaped driver's cabs for a new series of forklift trucks from Linde, whose ergonomic and sophisticated design came from Porsche. The task given to PBT Germany was to implement a bending technology solution using the cold rolling process for shaping the profiles that are welded together to form the cabs. The special challenge of this task was to realise a bending process that produces the smallest bending radii, three times the profile diameter, up to large radii in one pass per profile with repeat accuracy.
PBT Germany solved the task by optimising the starting material on the material and profile side and adapting the machine technology to the specific process with the development of a modified three-roller profile bending process with a mandrel feed device to secure the profile geometry and rotation of the bending machine around its own vertical axis. This was followed by a documented prototyping phase up to the production-ready zero series and finally the turnkey installation of the "bending centre".
PBT Germany GmbH, formerly INDUMASCH GmbH, today a subsidiary of the Swiss PBT Profilbiegetechnik AG, has a complete range of services and a great deal of experience in the realisation of manufacturing processes for traffic engineering customers. Many parts of cars, lorries, buses, trains and aeroplanes originate from manufacturing processes realised by the Siegen bending technology specialists. Vehicles from Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Maybach, Jaguar, Mini, Hyundai, aircraft from Airbus as well as buses and rail vehicles from various manufacturers contain components with PBT know-how.
