Production of a clamping yoke for a Swabian sports car manufacturer through PBT's expertise
The complex production requirements in the automotive industry increase with every new model that comes onto the market. Especially when it comes to the three-dimensional bending of profiles for the automotive industry, some automotive suppliers rely on the expertise of the company LS Lederer Systemtechnik GmbH, which focuses on the production and distribution of individual and series parts as well as functional components for the metal, electrical and automotive industries.
400 units of aluminium clamping brackets for the electric wind deflector of a sports car convertible are produced there per week using the high-performance ARKUS12 three-roller profile bending machine installed by PBT Germany GmbH, formerly INDUMASCH GmbH. However, PBT Germany not only supplied the machine to its Swiss parent company PBT Profilbiegetechnik AG, but also equipped it with a great deal of expert knowledge to meet the demanding process requirements of a Swabian sports car manufacturer. During the bending process, the radius of this clamping yoke required by the customer is defined by the infeed of the servo-hydraulically controlled X-axis. The heart of this special system from the PBT Germany designer, however, is a rotating bending head mounted on the Z-axis and developed especially for this project, which encloses the profile and shapes it into its three-dimensional form.
"In the course of more than ten years of cooperation, we have already manufactured a number of tools for components from various automotive suppliers. In each of these projects, we were able to develop the optimum manufacturing process on the precisely configured profile bending machine together with LS Lederer Systemtechnik through intensive cooperation and consultation," says PBT Germany Managing Director Peter Sting about the cooperation with the customer.
