Aluminium profiles
More InformationAluminium profiles - in short: aluminium profiles - are semi-finished products and are indispensable in many industrial and craft sectors. As a rule, not pure aluminium is used for production, but an aluminium alloy. Frequent admixtures are copper, magnesium, manganese, silicon or zinc. Which alloy is most suitable depends on the manufacturing process and the desired application. Aluminium profiles can be used bare. However, for a variety of applications, a surface treatment has proven successful. Anodised, painted or powder-coated profiles are more resistant to corrosion and scratches.
Surface finishing of aluminium profiles
Surface finishing also enhances the appearance of profiles that are mounted on the outside of workpieces and structures. Another form of surface treatment is coating with rubber or plastic. Depending on the shape, different types of aluminium profiles can be distinguished. Flat profiles, flat bars and flat plates are made from flat aluminium. In addition, there are solid, rod-shaped round profiles as well as hollow round and square and polygonal profiles. The design of aluminium profile rails depends on the intended use. Aluminium angle profiles are classified according to their shape, for example L, Z or U. Aluminium profiles are also available as a modular system, which contains a selection of different profiles as well as the matching connectors.
Functions of aluminium profiles
There are numerous functions that aluminium profiles can fulfil. For example, they are available as a construction profile, a strut profile, a plug-in profile or a transition profile. These functions result in a multitude of possible applications. In the vehicle, ship and aircraft industries, aluminium profiles are popular construction parts due to their low weight. In buildings, they can be used for constructions on roofs and facades, for windows, doors and interior fittings. Frames and substructures made of aluminium profiles are widely used, for example, in mechanical engineering or trade fair construction. Smaller profiles are ideal for model making. At the workplace, in workshops and warehouses, entire workstation and shelving systems can be designed with aluminium profiles according to individual requirements. Aluminium profile enclosures are popular because of the chemical and physical properties of the material. The enclosures are temperature-resistant, corrosion-resistant and offer protection against electromagnetic fields. Despite the abundance of standard profiles, customised aluminium profiles are also required for special purposes. These include curved aluminium profiles. These are custom-made products that have to be manufactured with high precision in order to meet the requirements exactly. With the help of modern bending machines, the profiles can be bent precisely without compromising their quality and load-bearing capacity.
